The XFL barreled through Week 2, and the power structure at the top of the league remained the same. D.C. and Houston continue to be powered by stellar quarterback play, and they remain the only undefeated teams in the league. Defenders quarterback Cardale Jones and Roughnecks quarterback P.J. They both play 0-2 opponents next weekend. Here is a closer look at SN's XFL power rankings heading into Week 3: The Defenders built on a strong Week 1 performance with a 27-0 blowout victory against the New York Guardians. D.C. clicked in all phases — and even completed the league's first double forward pass in the process. Cardale Jones passed for 276 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Donnel Pumphrey averaged 4.3 yards per carry, and Jameer Thurman scored the team's second defensive TD in as many weeks. The Roughnecks won a back-and-forth battle with St. Louis 28-24, and the P.J. Walker show continued. He threw three TD passes — all to Cam Phillips — and the last one created a 10-point gap the BattleHawks were not able to close. Walker continues to be a prolific passer through two weeks, and the running game averaged 4.6 yards per carry on just 17 attempts Sunday. MORE: Explaining the XFL rules differences vs. NFL A controversial non-call on an interception hurt St. Louis in its loss to Houston, but the BattleHawks proved they will be in any game with Jordan Ta'amu at quarterback. He finished with 284 passing yards, three TDs and two interceptions, and the BattleHawks outgained the Roughnecks 390-238. Those two costly turnovers were the difference in a close game, but St. Louis proved it can play with the league's best teams. Landry Jones made his XFL debut, and it was up and down. He passed for 305 yards, a TD and two interceptions in a 25-18 victory over Los Angeles. The running game helped, with Cameron Artis-Payne rushing for 99 yards and a pair of TDs. Payne averaged 7.1 yards per carry and scored the scored the game's final touchdown with 1:14 remaining in the fourth quarter. Tight end Donald Parham had five catches for 76 yards and a TD on 11 targets. He figures to be a big part of the offense moving forward. The Dragons have evened their record — and they have scored five TDs and allowed five TDs through two games. They rallied from a 9-0 deficit to beat Tampa Bay 17-9. Former Navy star Keenan Reynolds is emerging as one of the more explosive players in the league. He caught a 68-yard TD from Brandon Silvers and added a two-point conversion in the victory. The Dragons were still just 2 of 10 on third down, a trend that could keep them in the middle of the league if it does not improve. The Guardians managed just five first downs in the shutout loss to D.C. Matt McGloin threw two interceptions before being benched in favor of Marquise Williams, but the quarterbacks combined for just 95 passing yards. Bunmi Rotimi continues to be a bright spot for the defense, but there are improvements to be made heading into a Week 3 matchup with St. Louis. Los Angeles dropped to 0-2 after the loss to Dallas. Josh Johnson passed for 196 yards and a pair of TDs, and Nelson Spruce continues to be one of the league's best receivers. He had six catches for 89 yards and a pair of TDs. The Wildcats were again efficient on third down (7 for 13) and didn't turn the ball over, but a team can't win a game with 251 yards of total offense. The Vipers blew a 9-0 lead in their loss to Seattle, and the quarterback carousel continued. Quinton Flowers and Taylor Cornelius both saw time in place of the injured Aaron Murray, and they combined to go 19 of 34 for 172 yards and three interceptions. Former Florida State running back Jacques Patrick had 73 yards rushing, and Marcelis Branch led the defense with 12 total tackles.
